Umberto Mastroianni nasce a Fontana Liri, in provincia di Frosinone, il 21 settembre 1910.
Dopo gli studi presso l’Accademia di San Marcello a Roma, si trasferisce con la famiglia a Torino, proseguendo la sua formazione sotto la guida del maestro Guerrisi.
Le sue prime opere hanno un’impronta futurista; in particolare sarà influenzato dalle opere di Boccioni che Mastroianni tinge però di neo-cubismo.
L’artista sarà il fondatore nel 1947 del Premio Torino e, nel corso della sua vita, riceverà importanti riconoscimenti quali il Gran Premio Internazionale per la Scultura (Biennale di Venezia 1958) e il Premio Imperiale di Tokyo (1989).
Artista di fama mondiale, Umberto Mastroianni muore il 25 febbraio 1998 nella sua casa-museo di Marino (Roma) lasciando ai posteri numerosi capolavori.

Umberto Mastroianni was born in Fontana Liri, in the province of Frosinone, on 21 September 1910.
After his studies at the San Marcello Academy in Rome, he moved with his family to Turin, continuing his training under the guidance of the master Guerrisi.
His first works have a futurist imprint; in particular he will be influenced by the works of Boccioni which Mastroianni tinges with neo-Cubism.
The artist will be the founder of the Turin Prize in 1947 and, in the course of his life, will receive important awards such as the International Grand Prize for Sculpture (Venice Biennale 1958) and the Tokyo Imperial Prize (1989).
World famous artist, Umberto Mastroianni died on 25 February 1998 in his house-museum in Marino (Rome), leaving numerous masterpieces to posterity.
